Birlinn Jiarg

A good chance for families and their youngsters to spend Saturday afternoon sharing the fun of hearing live music indoors and, if it’s not too cold, running around in a safe outdoor space.

Birlinn Jiarg was founded by multi-instrumentalist Beccy Hurst and performs the traditional Manx music she grew up with plus new compositions. The unusual combination of Beccy’s low whistle and Freya Rae’s clarinet was the original inspiration for the band’s formation and the addition of Alasdair Paul’s bouzouki and Callum Younger’s bodhrán sets their sound apart from more traditional line-ups.
