St Magnus International Festival is Orkney’s midsummer celebration of the arts, which takes place from Thu 16 – Sun 26 Jun 2016.
The programme includes appearances by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, The Danish Sinfonietta, The Hebrides Ensemble, Florilegium, Stockholm Chamber Brass and Voces8. There will also be performances by Alexei Volodin, Robert Irvine, Samson Tsoy and Pavel Kolsenikov. For their 40th birthday, the festival will be showcasing 40 new works of music, poetry and visual art and there will be performances of the operas Hansel and Gretel, Dido and Aeneas and The Iris Murder. Magfest is a spectacular puppet show featuring lifesize circus animals and the Festival Poet is John Gallas.
