Last week marked the beginning of BRAW our new 2 year project for promoters and devising artists. The aim of the programme is to create new work rooted in Highland and Island communities, which resonates with our audiences to deepen their experience of live performance – and make them engage in more meaningful ways.

We held an application process last year for BRAW (which had a working title of Connecting Creative Communities) which has resulted in us working with the following creative organisations over the next 2 years;

Who bring with them the following artists

The Touring Network is represented by promoters

  • Lucy Conway from the Isle of Eigg
  • Joni Brown and Ian Prescott from Argyll Arts Collective (Lochgoilhead)
  • Kresanna Aigner from Findhorn Bay Arts

Our newly appointed Animateur, Kate Wieteska, made her debut with us at the Cove Park residential where we explored issues around rural promoting, how and why artists make work, and how audiences experience it. Lisa Baxter from The Experience Business co-devised the programme with Jo and facilitated the weekend which was exhilarating and exhausting in equal measure!  We also managed to squeeze a new project name out of the group, which to use one of Lisa’s expressions, was ‘like giving birth to a brick’!

Watch out for news updates as we progress….
