This free training workshop (14 June 2019, 9.30-16.00, Edinburgh), funded by Creative Scotland and delivered by Children in Scotland, is aimed at anyone working with children and young people in the arts, screen and creative industries – including paid and voluntary workers – who have day-to-day contact with children and young people.

It will give you the opportunity to review and update your existing child protection knowledge, policy and practice by understanding the guidelines set out in Creating Safety: Child protection guidelines for Scotland’s arts, screen and creative industries (Creative Scotland and Children in Scotland, 2019).

This practical full-day event will help you feel confident about child protection, being able to share your knowledge with staff and colleagues, to ensure your organisation is up to date in its understanding of best safeguarding practice and able to support children, young people and staff with child protection concerns.

Key learning:
• What is child protection: definition and legislation
• Key principles of working with children and young people and how to apply them in practice
• Dealing with disclosures and suspicions of abuse and neglect
• Signs of concern and how to respond
• Recruiting and supervising staff and volunteers
• Writing child protection policy, procedures and code of behaviour.

Please note that places will be limited and allocated on a first come, first served basis. There will be a restriction of one or two delegates per organisation.
The deadline is Thursday 13 June 2019 at 15:00.
