Julie Fowlis and Kim Carnie / Blas festival 2018

13 September, 2018 @ 7:30 pm

£14

Julie Fowlis, Éamon Doorley, Zoe Conway & John McIntyre are four influential traditional musicians from Ireland and Scotland, who have been working together over the past 18 months to create new music and songs inspired by modern and ancient Irish and Scottish Gaelic poems. This project has been inspired by the work of Seán Ó Riada, Padraigín Ní Uallacháin and others who have breathed new life into Gaelic poetry whilst renewing and rejuvenating traditional music by adding new ‘traditional’ airs to it’s corpus.Young singer-songwriter Kim Carnie is the voice of THQ Nordic’s ‘Black Mirror’, has made soundtrack and on-screen appearances in Netflix’s ‘Outlaw King’ and is a former member of John Saich’s (Caparcaille) MOVE project. Earlier this year Kim performed with the BBC SSO in a night celebrating Gaelic song and contemporary Gaelic singers, sharing the bill with Julie Fowlis, Karen Matheson, Kathleen MacInnes and Mischa MacPherson and last year released her debut EP ‘In Her Company – Na Cuideachd’.
