Plan B for Utopia

4 February, 2017 @ 7:30 pm

£12

‘You have a plan, and then you don’t. You have a dream, and then you wake up. You fall in love, and your heart gets broken. The question is: do you pick up the pieces and try again?’

Plan B for Utopia is a show about how we choose to live our lives: about having a dream, giving it up and trying again, but above all, it’s a story about friendship. Mixing dance, theatre and storytelling with a good dose of humour, the performance features classic songs like ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’, ‘When you Wish Upon a Star’ and ‘What a Wonderful World’.

Joan Clevillé Dance is an independent dance company based in Scotland, creating work that challenges the conventional boundaries between dance and theatre and is rooted in the fascination for human nature and the world we live in.

Plan B for Utopia is a playful dance theatre work exploring the notion of utopia and the role that imagination and creativity can play as a driving force for change in our personal and collective lives. Mixing dance, theatre and storytelling, the piece creates an intimate space where audience and performers can engage in a common endeavour to re-imagine the world. Accompanying music includes Louis Armstrong, Cliff Edwards, Judy Garland, Gordon Lorenz Orchestra, Willy Mason and MyMy.

Premiered during the 2015 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the work was selected for the 2016 British Dance Edition showcase and premiered at the Internationale Tanzmesse in September 2016.

“Plan B for Utopia is a beautifully constructed show: laugh out loud, serious, profoundly silly, and a joy from start to finish” The Skinny
