Our Network is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary this year and we’re very lucky to have received some funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to do a bit of research and gather up all your great stories and achievements from over the years. We’ll be putting together a wee exhibition and digital archive to tell your stories, as well as creating a film to mark the occasion – all in time for The Gathering, which is taking place from Thu 27 – Sat 29 Sept this year! (Save the date!)

We’d like to introduce you to the team who will be carrying out the research and making the film….

Kerry Duncan, from the Black Isle (and originally Drumnadrochit), is our Research Assistant. Kerry has buckets of heritage research experience and has just finished working on another Heritage Lottery funded project with High Life Highland, about the impact of the end of WWI on Highland communities.

Kerry is keen to hear from you if you have any archive material relating to touring performers coming to the Highlands and Islands over the past 20 years. These materials could take the form of posters, flyers, photographs (or even videos) etc that you’d like to share with the project.

If so, you can either drop her an email or give her a call on 01349 888182.

Beth Chalmers and Jassy Earl are our Film Makers for the project. We’ve worked with them both a couple of times before – Beth has photographed the last two Gathering’s for us, and Jassy was also there last year in Boat of Garten, filming our GET IN Youth Promoters. They have a beautifully artistic style to their work so we’re really excited to see their micro-film at The Gathering!

Beth & Jassy are looking forward to getting out on the road to start filming footage of all aspects of putting on events: behind the scenes, volunteers, the set up, the after party etc, and would love to hear from you if you have a particularly exciting event coming up in the next couple of months. They’re keeping an eye on our What’s On guide so please do remember, if you are a promoter member to list your events there so that we don’t miss them.

It’s full steam ahead for this project! We’re really excited to see what Kerry uncovers in her research, and to hear about all the amazing tours and events that you, and all the other promoters in the Network, have made happen over the past 20+ years.
