respond_ is an experiment.
A digital adaptation of Liz Lerman’s Critical Response Process, it has been developed by Yorkshire Dance, University of Leeds and Breakfast Creatives to test whether digital technology can enhance audiences experience of contemporary dance, and demystify the creative process.
Robbie Synge is a choreographer and performer based in Ross-shire. He and Lucy Boyes Directed The Past Inside the Present, which was one of the showcase performances at our Spring Gathering in Plockton earlier this year.
His show Douglas, a solo performed alongside sound artist David Maxwell that largely stems from actions and events that he part-imagined while working outdoors at his home in the Highlands, was selected to be one of two pieces to be developed as part of respond_.
