Help Musicians UK is proud to launch the Jazz Promoters Fellowship; a new pilot programme in partnership with internationally recognised and award-winning jazz composer, educator and record producer, Issie Barratt.

WHAT IS THE JAZZ PROMOTERS FELLOWSHIP?

Based on extensive research revealing that women are still hugely under-represented in jazz, and compelling evidence from two roundtable discussions with industry leaders in 2016, this fully-funded HMUK fellowship has been developed to create a gender balanced approach to promoting jazz artists and bands, leading to a more diverse and inclusive jazz scene in the UK. The yearlong Jazz Promoters Fellowship (July 2017 – July 2018) is supported by a host of the UK’s leading jazz promoters and festival organisers. The scheme is designed to help the next generation of male and female promoters establish themselves both regionally and nationally. It offers a unique route of professional development with a core ethos to consciously redress the jazz scene’s current gender imbalance through continual exploration into why it exists and how we can best work together to redress it.
